AARP Medicare Supplement

Is this the right one for you???

AARP Medicare supplement insurance plans help cover some of the expenses not covered by Medicare alone. Choosing the right plan is important to assure you have adequate coverage when you need it the most.

All Medicare supplement plans are basically the same. The federal government requires that private insurance companies provide the same coverage across the board. They are "letter named", as in Plan A, Plan B etc.

Do not confuse that with Medicare Part A and Part B.

The plans allowed include:

  • A
  • B
  • C
  • D
  • F
  • G
  • K
  • L
  • M
  • N

Any private insurance that offers Medicare Supplement Plans, often called Medigap Insurance, must provide the same coverage that others do for the same letter. I know, could it get any more confusing?

Medicare.gov does a great job of giving the breakdown that each Plan letter covers. No matter which private supplemental insurance you choose, each company will have plans with the same letter name and the same basic benefits. The only real difference will be cost and availability in your area.

This supplemental plan is one of the most well known plans available. People are familiar with AARP and trust their endorsements.

Benefits of the AARP Medicare Supplement

There are several benefits of these plans. They are a large company and endorse many products, so you could get additional benefits along with a supplemental insurance plan. A few of these are:

  • Medicare Advantage Plans
  • Long term care insurance
  • Prescription drug coverage
  • Fitness discounts
  • Dental Insurance
  • Vision Insurance
  • Hearing discounts
  • and many more ....

The AARP Medicare Supplement plan can be a perfect fit to meet your needs. But you will have to research the plans they have available in your specific area.

I have to be honest and say they have one of the most difficult and convoluted websites I have seen. I mean no disrespect to them and I think that AARP offers our seniors some of the best options out there, but I would recommend calling their toll free number and discussing your needs with them directly.

If your choose to utilize the AARP supplement insurance plan, you can contact them directly on line at AARP.com

If you need help choosing the right Medicare supplement plan for your unique and individual needs, the book I recommend is Private Insurance to Medicare Supplements. You can purchase it direct through Amazon and it can help guide you through your options and choices.
